Dog Sleds

We have found that the toboggan is the best type of sled for expeditions.  It is very strong and can handle a variety of trail conditions.  Several years ago we discovered that oak toboggans made specifically for dogsledding were very difficult to find.  Most were modified from large, stiff, heavy toboggans designed to be pulled behind a snowmobile.  So we decided to make our own, designed and built specifically for dog sledding. 

Our initial designs worked excellent, but as you can imagine, making toboggans is a major undertaking that consumes a great deal of time, leaving less time for expeditions.  Happily we were able to find a sled maker right here in Canada, who was willing to custom make us our toboggans from our own designs. 

Samuel at Arctic Toboggan is not only the best sled maker that we have found, but is also the most honest and helpful person to deal with.  If we have a problem with the design, or need the toboggan to handle different terrain, or whatever the challenge may be, Samuel is always willing to listen and modify the design accordingly. 

A great bonus is that this sled maker is in Canada and so there is none of the problems usually associated with importing, no waiting for the sled to clear customs, no extra cost for cross-border shipping or converting currency.  Just an all round stress free transaction.
